West Virginia Governor Jim Justice ordered West Virginia state flags to half-staff on Thursday in remembrance of former state delegate Roy Givens.
Givens served as a delegate for the second district for a total of 24 years. He was first elected to the House in 1978.
During his tenure, he chaired several committees, and he received the Distinguished West Virginian Award from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin in 2012.
His public service also included serving as a member of the Brooke County School Board.
