Traffic stop ends in arrest in Wheeling

David Anthony Richardson-Young, 32 of Martinsburg, W.Va., was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to deliver.

A Wheeling police officer found much more than a person committing a traffic violation during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Shortly after 1 p.m., Tuesday, an officer patrolling the East Wheeling area stopped a driver in the 1200 block of Eoff Street.

When speaking to the occupants, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana, prompting a search of the vehicle.

Discovered inside was a large amount of cocaine and crack cocaine, more than $2,000 in cash, a firearm, and instruments used to weigh narcotics.

David Anthony Richardson-Young, 32 of Martinsburg, W.Va., is charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to deliver.

He was arrested, arraigned by an Ohio County Magistrate and taken to the Northern Regional Jail.
