Steubenville FD continuing its commitment to educating young students about fire safety

The Steubenville Fire Department is continuing its commitment to educating young students about fire safety.

The Firepup Program is designed to develop fire safety education materials targeted to children ages 3-to-10 years old.

For more than 30 years, the department has been a part of the National Fire Safety Council, which helps provide materials like the Firepup books and manuals. To help cover the cost, they’re turning to the community for your help.

"With this program, it targets the younger children, mainly Kindergarten through 3rd grade. And a lot of what we try to do is preach fire safety to younger children so they have a base for it and as they grow up they practice fire safety and prevention in the home, too," Steubenville Fire Chief Carlo Capaldi said.

All local businesses are welcome to sponsor fire safety materials for schools in the community. Anyone else who is interested in donating can contact the Steubenville Fire Department.
