Stabbing reported Sunday night in Ohio County

A man claims he was stabbed while on a bike ride in the Elm Grove area of Wheeling on Sunday night.

It happened just after 9 o’clock on East Bethlehem Boulevard.

The alleged victim told police he was riding his bike along the roadway when man approached him and tried to rob him.

Police say he fought back and was stabbed, twice.

The alleged victim gave a very vague description to police. He says the attacker was a white man and was wearing blue jeans and a tan Carhartt jacket.

The alleged victim has serious, non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to UPMC in Pittsburgh.

“It was dark and rainy and not a lot of people in that area, so not a lot of people out at that time, but someone may have seen something, so if you did give us a call and let us know,” said Philip Stahl, public information officer for the Wheeling Police Department.
