Regional student art exhibition kicks off at Stifel Fine Arts Center
WHEELING, W.Va. —
The Stifel Fine Arts Center at the Oglebay Institute kicked off its regional student art exhibition on Thursday.
The exhibition features the artwork of students from 18 different high schools in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, and has been taking place for 30 years.
Full and partial scholarships to West Liberty and WVU were handed out during Thursday’s awards ceremony.
The event gives kids the chance to see their hard work on full display.
"This gives a lot of those students who don't usually get that kind of attention or that opportunity to express themselves or share themselves - this is a great venue for that. Plus, it's really interesting because you're looking at students from all these different high schools from across the Ohio Valley," said Michael McKowen, curator of exhibitions at the Oglebay Institute.
This year’s exhibition will be open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturdays, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The show will run through Feb. 15.
