People who didn't have a place to eat a Thanksgiving lunch got a little help from Quaker Steak and Lube in The Highlands.

People who didn't have a place to eat a Thanksgiving lunch got a little help from Quaker Steak and Lube in The Highlands.

The restaurant was open from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday and offered a free brunch to anyone who came in.

Originally, they were just going to feed veterans, but donations from other local businesses made them able to offer food to everyone.

"My general manager got some local donations from like Miklos Meat Market, Tony's Spa, just regular civilians who sent me messages on Facebook that donated stuff. So, we opened it up to anybody in the community that needed a place to go to eat,” said Marketing Manager Christine Thomas.

Thomas said there were a handful of people actually waiting in line outside when they opened their doors at noon.
