New Martinsville council to grant pay raise to three elected officials
WETZEL COUNTY, W. Va. —
New Martinsville City Council agreed to increase the salaries of three elected officials Tuesday night, which includes the police chief, city recorder and street commissioner.
Council agreed to give all three officials a $5,000 pay raise.
Police Chief Tim Cecil had been asking for a pay increase for years, saying he was the lowest-paid in his department.
The city is also exploring options to generate more revenue, from a city service fee to a municipal fee.
