BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — One parent in Belmont County has questions after finding a mysterious pill in her child's Halloween candy.
A mother went to the St. Clairsville Police Department on Thursday morning, saying she found a black pill capsule in her 7-year-old's Halloween candy bag.
She says they were trick-or-treating on North Sugar Street after the laundry mat, then on Belleview Street and Overbaugh Avenue.
The pill was not in the candy, just the bottom of the bag.
“She just wanted all the people that were in that area to go out and make sure they inspected their child's candy before they had a problem with finding more pills, or to make sure that they didn't find any more pills,” St. Clairsville Police Chief Jeff Henry said.
The pill is going to be turned over to BCI to investigate.
The investigation could take weeks, but in the meantime, police want to warn the public.
Everyone who was trick or treating Wednesday night is asked to check their candy thoroughly.
