MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — The Moundsville Rotary wanted to offer some financial help to an organization in the community, and organizers found the perfect recipient not far away.
Wellspring Pregnancy Center is a non-profit organization that helps women who need material assistance with baby clothes and baby care items. There's no fee -- and no background check.
“If you have a need for a child between newborn and size 4T, you can come and visit us one time per month and shop for free for a limited number of items. Everything we have is done through donation and by volunteers,” said Cris Jacobs, Wellspring co-director.
Services also include free pregnancy testing.
Of course, with running a small boutique and providing these items comes a cost. That’s where the rotary comes in.
It received – and matched -- a $1,000 donation. With that, they've been able to donate food, clothes and anything else the center needs.
“The need here for children is amazing,” Rotary President Joni Grubler said. “They're so wonderfully organized. I think what we liked, too, was that it's not just for Marshall County. It's for children, it doesn't matter where you're from.”
Wellspring is grateful for the help, and organizers know they can accomplish so much more together.
If you're interested in helping Wellspring, they have a donation box right outside their building.
