Junior tour guides preparing for Frontier Days

Fourteen kids learned the ropes at Historic Fort Steuben to become junior tour guides for the upcoming Frontier Days celebration.

They spent the afternoon with Frontier Dan learning hands-on homestead training. The kids were taught how to throw tomahawks and cook over an open fire and said they enjoyed learning in a fun environment.

“There's too many awesome things to do here, mainly ice cream and tomahawks,” said one child.

“There is always something for each member of the family to do or see and talk about,” Judy Bratten, executive director of Fort Steuben, said. “Grandparents like to reminisce and now the youngsters can see what they're reminiscing about. It's a wonderful time for everyone.”

Frontier Days will be held at Fort Steuben on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 4 from 11 a.m until 5 p.m.
