MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — John Marshall High School is hosting a steel drum festival this weekend.
The event’s proceeds will go to a local teacher, Heather Schultz, who is battling breast cancer.
Bands from five area schools, as well as professional band Steel Cassa, will be featured during the event.
It starts at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children, and food and drinks will be available.
"It's sad that we have to have a cause like this. Unfortunately, cancer is touching the lives of nearly everyone within my program, so it means a lot to us to be able to donate these proceeds to Heather,” said Tracey Filben, director of bands.
The school asks that attendees wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
