Jefferson County commissioners announce road use and maintenance agreements

Commissioners in Jefferson County are bullish on the oil and gas market, especially after coming to terms on five different road use and maintenance agreements.

Commissioners in Jefferson County are bullish on the oil and gas market, especially after coming to terms on five different road use and maintenance agreements.

Included in that group a RUMA with the Shell Pipeline Company, which covers 27 miles and could mean big profits in the county and surrounding areas.

"It's a move that keeps the jobs in Ohio, because it keeps the ethane here in Ohio and Pennsylvania and this part of the country, rather than shipping it all the way down to the gulf to Louisiana and Texas to be processed,” Commissioner Tom Gentile said. “So it’s keeping the jobs local ethane will go from Ohio over to Monaca, Pa., via this pipeline, and there's a whole lot of downstream jobs that will come from that, so it's a big deal."
