Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce holding annual blood drive

The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the American Red Cross to give back.

It's the Chamber's annual Corporate Challenge Blood Drive.

Chamber member businesses and their employees are challenged to come out and give blood at the drive each year.

But the drive isn't limited to local businesses.

Everyone is encouraged to stop by and help make a difference.

The Red Cross says donations are typically low, even though blood is still very much needed this time of year.

“Winter time is really bad,” Chamber President Trisha Maple said. “The holidays, people get busy, so your regular donors don't come out as much as they normally do, and also the weather keeps people, again, from attending their regular scheduled blood drives.”

The blood drive is taking place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the YWCA on N. 4th Street in downtown Steubenville on Tuesday.

Anyone can drop in to donate or schedule a time slot in advance.
