HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. — A close race for Hancock County commissioner has left some wondering what happens when a race comes down to the last few votes?
The commissioner’s race saw challenger Tommy Ogden defeat incumbent commissioner Jeff Davis by an eight-vote margin.
Here are the steps that will be taken in the coming weeks:
Votes will be canvassed next Tuesday -- absentee and provisional votes will be counted. The Secretary of State will be notified once votes are in. Then, there is 48-hour waiting period, and a recount can then be requested.
