The Harrison County Emergency Management Agency hosted a hazardous material operations training class on Saturday at the Hopedale fire house. It was put on by Bad Day Training.

Firefighters and EMTs received training on how to better respond to any release of hazardous materials. The class included drills covering real life situations, where volunteers acted out a situation of coming into contact with chemicals.

"We have, with the influx of oil and gas, we have a number of products. They could be a danger to people. If there was an accident then they might encounter it that way,” said Eric Wilson, EMA director.

The class was funded by a grant from the Ohio EMA.
