Firefighters respond to early morning house fire in Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —
Firefighters battled an early morning fire in Jefferson County.
The call came in around 6 o’clock for a structure fire along County Road 74 in Mingo Junction.
The home was vacant, but there was still power to the structure, according to Chief Jeff Winland of the Hillndale Fire Department.
“When the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department got there, he said the power line was by the meter box and was on fire going up the wall, so I'm assuming it was electrical,” Winland said.
There were no fire hydrants in the area, so crews relied on tanker trucks from Wintersville and Brilliant.
The Hillndale, New Alexandria, Brilliant, and Wintersville Fire Departments all responded to the scene.
