Filming taking place at former Moundsville Penitentiary
MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. —
Several streets in Moundsville are shut down as Hollywood comes to Marshall County; a new Hulu series being filmed.
It's called “Castle Rock” and is based on the stories of author Stephen King.
The former Moundsville penitentiary is transformed into the Shawshank State Prison for the Hulu series, something residents in the city of Moundsville agree is exciting.
The streets of Moundsville surrounding the former prison are shut down.
“We've noticed you can't get up and down Jefferson Avenue, but that's fine," said resident Glen Kesselring.
Kesselring says he used to read King’s novels.
“Will probably watch it since some of it was made here in Moundsville,” he said.
Meanwhile, some of the background actors are from the Ohio Valley. The 10-episode psychological horror series is being developed by Hulu and producer J.J. Abrams.
“I think it's cool for Moundsville and I think a lot of people are proud of the pen and all its history,” said resident Holden Ratcliffe.
There’s no word yet on when Castle Rock will hit Hulu.
