JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Valley has a new oil and gas company in the area, Encino Energy, which recently bought assets from Chesapeake Energy.
Friday night, trustees and community members gathered to hear about the progress the company is making in Jefferson County.
Mike Chadsey with the Ohio Oil and Gas Association gave a presentation on the industry at large, while Encino Energy representatives spoke about their work in the county.
Nearly 70 percent of Encino Energy’s employees are in Ohio.
"Our priority is Ohio. Jefferson County is in our core asset area - folks in Jefferson County should be very excited about that. We are also going to be in Harrison County, Carroll County - just next door to Jefferson County - so Ohio certainly has a bright future, and we’re excited to be part of it,” said Jackie Stewart, director of external affairs for Encino Energy.
Stewart said the company is hiring, and you'll see more Encino trucks and signs in the area soon.
