Elm Grove Eagle Riders donate to Wheeling Hospital

The roar of motorcycles could be heard outside Wheeling Hospital's Howard Long Wellness Center Saturday afternoon.

For the 8th year the Elm Grove Eagle Riders rode their motorcycles to present a check to the hospital.

This year $5,000 will be used for the families of pediatric diabetes patients who have financial challenges associated with their child's care.

With this donation, the Eagle Riders have raised more than $27,000 pediatric diabetes patients over the past eight years.

“We love doing it obviously we love riding and just to come over here and see the kids every year, it kind of puts faces with the cause,” President of Eagle Riders Izzy Duvall said.

“This is a big deal. Type 1 diabetes affects more people than you might think, so sending them to camp and helping them afford their medications it's a huge help for the community and it makes families very happy and kids very happy,” Doctor Loren Kaiser of Wheeling Hospital said.

The Eagle Riders motto is "People Helping People" so they say they are happy to help their community every year.
