Couple sentenced for keeping decomposing body in home

Two people convicted of keeping a man's decomposing body in their Tuscarawas County home and collecting his Social Security checks have been sentenced.

50-year-old Brian Sorohan and 46-year-old Stacy Sorohan pleaded no contest to charges of gross abuse of a corpse and two counts of theft.

According to our news partner The Times Reporter, Thursday they were each sentenced to six months in jail and two years’ probation.

The couple, along with their 18-year-old daughter, kept the body of a 71-year-old Vietnam War veteran hidden in their Wainwright house. Investigators said the remains were found among trash and other filth.

The Sorohans were also ordered to pay restitution to the Veterans Administration and Social Security administration.
