Law enforcement in Toronto were honored by their community at a first responder social and dinner held at J.T. Karaffa Elementary School Sunday evening. The event was organized by the Toronto Coalition for Revitalization.

Everyone who came was treated to dinner and dessert. First responders ate for free thanks to donations by local churches and other groups. Members of the coalition felt it was time to honor their first responders and thank them for what they do for the community.

"These individuals are truly the jewels in the community that make Toronto the Gem City,” said George Komar, Toronto Coalition for Revitalization.

Toronto police, fire department and emergency servicemen and women were among those in attendance. The coalition has many more events planned for the rest of the year, including their summer concert series and the painting of more murals in town.
