Brooke school board requests audit

With all of the controversy surrounding the Brooke County Schools system, the school board president has requested a forensic audit by the state, diving into all expenses paid by the schools.

In recent months, the Brooke County Board of Education has held several meetings that parents have attended, with some accusing the board of corrupt financing.

The goal of the audit is to create transparency between the board and the public. A meeting was held Monday night to get approval from the board. The members agreed that the audit is necessary.

“The pay raises were the impetus to the concerns of the county,” said Ted Pauls, board president. “I think that’s really what kicked it off, but there have been other concerns expressed.”

Pauls also said it was a unanimous decision by the board to request the audit.
