BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. — Democrat A.J. Thomas (55 percent) defeated Republican Don Perkins (45 percent) in a matchup of first-time candidates for a spot on the Brooke County Board of Commissioners.
The spot was vacated when Jim Andreozzi decided not to seek re-election.
W.Va. House of Delegates District 2
Incumbent Phil Diserio kept his spot with the West Virginia House of Delegates District 2 by garnering 52 percent of the vote. Republican candidate Becky Uhlly finished second at 39 percent, and Independent candidate Trevor Barnhart (8 percent).
“It’s always exciting to win,” Diserio said. “It’s always tough to put your name on a ballot, takes a little courage from everybody. I’d like to thank everyone for coming out and voting, especially those who voted for me.
“I’m appreciative to go back to Charleston. We have some work to do down there.”
