BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Republican Jerry Echemann overtook incumbent and Democrat Mark Thomas for seat a on the Belmont County Board of Commissioners with 63 percent of the votes.
“I feel great,” Echemann said. “It’s a pretty nice margin. I’m grateful to all of those who went out and voted for me. It’s a great feeling when people put their trust in you.
“And now it’s my job to kinda live out that trust, and live up to it, which I plan to do.”
The St. Clairsville Richland City Schools bond issue was roundly shot down (72 percent no).
The group that opposed the bond issue offered to work with "Build St. C."
“I just want to say to extend a hand out to Build St. C. for when they come back – if they come back – so we can work together and do something that’s beneficial to the community, and we don’t have to have this type of atmosphere that they put out there," Bill Brooks said.
“We’d love to work with them. We don’t want to be in control. We just want to be able to offer suggestions.”
Eastern Division Court Judge
David Trouten (48 percent), topped Joseph A. Vavra (43 percent) and Daniel Balgo (10 percent) in the race for Eastern Division Court Judge.
