BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Six people were arrested as a result of two separate drug busts this week in Powhatan Point and Barnesville.
Wednesday, the Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on Taylor St. in Powhatan Point after an investigation initiated by the Bridgeport Police Department.
"When we hit the house, several individuals took off running. One suspect who had felony warrants out of Cuyahoga County barricaded himself in the garage. We were able to stop that pretty quick and take him into custody without incident,” said Detective Ryan Allar of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.
Four people were arrested and face the following charges:
Detective Allar said Shaw was the one who had attempted to barricade himself in the garage.
"Out of the ordinary, and what was disturbing was narcotics were being hidden beneath a small child's bedding, and we are processing paperwork to the Department of Child and Family Services,” Allar said.
In an unrelated incident in Barnesville on Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on Mason Rd.
"We recovered an expensive tractor stolen about a month ago around the Belmont area, and a rather large piece of equipment, a welder stolen from Harrison County,” Allar said.
Officers also found two firearms and meth.
William Groves and Vanessa Snider were taken into custody.
Groves faces receiving stolen property charges.
Snider faces several charges, including drug possession and receiving stolen property.
All six suspects are currently being held at the Belmont County Jail.
