Wilson drops second round match at NCAA wrestling, headed to consolation bracket

Steubenville grad Tariq Wilson started the NCAA wrestling championships with a 5-0 victory in opening round action Thursday, before dropping his second round match up at 133 pounds.

Wilson, a red shirt sophomore at N.C. State, is the 11 seed, and fell to six seed Ethan Lizak of Minnesota 6-4. Wilson tied the match with a reversal in the third period, but was not awarded two late take down points which would have tied things up.

Wilson still has a chance to eventually match his third place finish from a year ago, but will have a number of wrestle back matches ahead, beginning Friday morning. He'll meet 21st seed Cam Sykora of North Dakota State. It's the first of potentially four matches Friday for Wilson if he does not lose.
