Wheeling Central won an 11th state football title and its second straight Saturday night, defeating Williamstown 44-15.
The Maroon Knights never trailed in the Class A final, building a 30-8 lead at the half. Williamstown scored on its opening drive of the third quarter, but Central quickly answered with junior Adam Murray's second short touchdown run of the game to go up 37-15. Senior Bray Price capped the scoring with a 58 yard touchdown run.
Fellow seniors Vinny Mangino and Anthony Robbins both scored touchdowns for the 13-1 Maroon Knights. Junior quarterback Curtis McGhee III was voted the game's MVP for Wheeling Central. He ran for more than 100 yards and a touchdown, also throwing for a score.
This title is Wheeling Central's seventh under veteran head coach Mike Young, who is seven for seven in title game appearances.
