Three more ‘Coats for Kids’ checks presented
Thanks to you, children across the Ohio valley will have warm coats this winter.
The Coats for Kids program provides funds to all of the counties in the WTOV9 viewing area.
On Friday, three checks totaling $3,000 were presented to provide coats for kids.
The first two went to the Salvation Army in Wellsburg and Weirton. The third check will help provide coats to children in Harrison County through the Help Me Grow home visiting program.
Both organizations know how life-changing a new coat can be.
"It's an amazing experience because it only takes one person to come back and say, ‘thank you, without you my child would be freezing at a bus stop in temperatures like we have today,’" said Major Nettie Morton of the Salvation Army.
"The best day is the day we set the coats up,” said Linda Trushel of Help Me Grow. “The children come in and pick out a coat and they say, ‘I get to take this coat home!’ And they are smiling. It just makes you feel so blessed that a child is that happy about a coat."
