Fans packed inside the Claymont High School gymnasium to see and hear from Garbrandt and Maple. During the celebration, the mayors of Uhrichsville and Dennison made proclamations declaring Sunday as ‘Cody Garbrandt and Maddux Maple Day,’ as well as presenting a key to the twin cities. The Tuscarawas County commissioners also presented Garbrandt with a proclamation honoring his championship win.

"I think about it and I break down sometimes thinking about it, his worst days, his battle with leukemia," Garbrandt said. "We met five years ago on this day so everything's falling into place."

"It's cool, you know, because he grew up in my hometown and that was our dream to become champions and it became true," Maddux said.

"I'm still blown away," Garbrandt said. "I never thought it would be like this but it's amazing and I'm very thankful, very humbled."

Prior to the rally at the school, fans lined the streets for a championship parade to honor Cody and Maddux.

Garbrandt will soon be a featured coach in the 25th season of The Ultimate Fighter, opposite of his expected next opponent, TJ Dillashaw.
