Local athletes participate in National Signing Day
It's National Signing Day as high school seniors are deciding where they're going to play college football throughout the country and here in the Ohio Valley.
We were there this afternoon as four local athletes signed with Wheeling Jesuit University. In its first football recruiting class: Toronto wide receiver and specialist Jake Keenan will be joining the Cardinals, as will two players from Madonna High School. In defensive back Chayce Lemley and lineman Ryan Ekey. He will be joined by his cousin, Zach Ekey from Steubenville. Zach was offered a spot by Jesuit after suffering a season ending injury in Big Red's first game of the year.
Three other players from Steubenville Big Red kicked off the day with signings. Quarterback Javon Davis will continue his football career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania - the Crimson Hawks were a Division 2 semi-finalist last season. Linebacker and wide receiver Johnny Agresta signed with Ashland University, while lineman Alijah Demitras will continue his career at Walsh University.
Also Wednesday, Magnolia's Brooks Parsons accepted an invited walk on offer to join the Marshall football program. The wide receiver and defensive back did it all for the Blue Eagles this past season with nearly 1,300 yards of offense and 15 total touchdowns.
