Indian Creek girls 4x4 track team honored

WTOV

The Jefferson County commissioners welcomed Indian Creek's state champions at their weekly meeting Thursday morning.

The commissioners honored the girls 4x4 state track champions with a proclamation. Earlier this month at the Ohio state track and field championships, Amaya Dudley, Sloane Lewis, Kelsey Lewis and Madison Smith won the state title and they acknowledge all of the help and support they've received along the way.

“It's a great feeling, it's an honor, truly an honor,” said Madison Smith, senior. “We got this one from the commissioners and then we got one from the village of Mingo Junction as well two nights ago.

“It takes a great support system to do what we're doing,” Smith said. “It expands from our family into the community as well and it's great the community supports us as a team.”

The Indian Creek state champions will be honored again tonight at the Aracoma Park in Mingo Junction. That's at 5 o'clock.
