Updated: Thursday, June 5 2014, 06:41 PM EDT

WHEELING, W.Va. -- The community is coming together to support Wheeling Park's baseball team as it heads to Appalachian Power Park in Charleston to compete in a W.Va. Class AAA state semifinal.
The Patriots will take on Riverside, which is making its first appearance in the state tournament, at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Washington and Hurricane are set to play at 10 a.m. on Friday in the other Class AAA semifinal.
The championship game is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Supporters of the Patriots will line up along National Road to the I-70 entrance ramp near Parkview for a sendoff at noon today.
It's the second time in school history the Patriots have advanced to the state semifinals, matching the feat of the 1989 team. Wheeling Park has never won a state title in baseball.
