Bellaire Hires Andres As New Head Football Coach

Updated: Wednesday, February 19 2014, 12:52 AM EST

Belllaire High School's new head football coach is Stephen Andres, who comes to the Ohio Valley after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Cincinnati St. Xavier High School.

Andres' hiring was approved at a special board meeting this morning in Bellaire. This is Andres' first varsity head coaching job.

Andres spent the last five years as an assistant coach at St. Xavier on the special teams and defensive side of the ball.

Prior to coaching at St. Xavier, Andres was an assistant coach at Lakota East High School since 1997. He was defensive coordinator at the end of his tenure at the Liberty Township, Ohio school.

The 42 year old Andres graduated from Linden McKinley High School in Columbus in 1989.

Andres was a four year starter at linebacker for the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati. He earned his Masters of Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1997.

He replaces Jose Davis at Bellaire, who stepped down from the position after five years in charge of his alma mater's football program.

Davis will be coaching the Ohio All-Stars in this summer's Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Football Charity Classic.
