UPDATE: GBI releases autopsy results in shooting that killed officer
UPDATE: Saturday afternoon the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that an autopsy had been performed on both Locust Grove Police Officer Chase Maddox and Tierre Guthrie.
Preliminary results from the autopsies show that Officer Maddox was shot three times and died from a gunshot to his head.
Tierre Guthrie was shot four times and died from gunshots to his chest.
UPDATE: Friday evening the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the suspect in the day's shooting to be 39-year-old Tierre Guthrie.
LOCUST GROVE, Ga. -- One officer has died and two deputies are injured after a shooting in Locust Grove in Henry Co. Friday afternoon, officials say.
The suspect was shot dead as well.
It happened on St. Francis Court in Locust Grove. The deadly shootings occurred when deputies were serving a search warrant.
Two officers were airlifted to the hospital, officials say. The Locust Grove police officer -- identified as Chase Maddox -- has died, while the Henry Co. deputies -- Michael D. Corley and Ralph Sidwell Callaway -- are injured.
Surrounding area schools were temporarily placed on lockdown.
