WVU President makes stop in Ohio County

West Virginia University President Gordon Gee made a stop in Wheeling on Wednesday.

It's part of Gee's summer tour in which he is trying to visit all 55 counties in the state.

Ge says he wants to find out the needs for each city and how WVU can help fulfill those needs.

He met with Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott and other city and county leaders at Later Alligator in Centre Market.

He spoke about higher education and the state’s budget.

"For every dollar the state invests into WVU, we return $10 to the state, and my view is in times of economic challenge, you invest into things that you will see a return,” Gee said.

Gee says Wheeling is one of his favorite cities with a lot of energy. He also mentioned students from wheeling excelling at WVU.
