Wheeling Park Commission President and CEO Stephen Hillard will leave Oglebay Park in March 2018.

Hillard has officially announced his retirement. Wheeling Park Commission Chairman Bill Jones said Hilliard informed the park of his decision several months ago.

“He said he would not be continuing as president of the park system after his contract expires March 31st, in order to spend more time with his wife and family,” Jones said. “Commissioners started a search process in September and have identified several great candidates who we believe will be able to continue the exceptional progress that Steve has made for our parks over the past two years.”

Under Hilliard’s leadership, Oglebay has experienced major expansions including the Garden Bistro restaurant, a splash-and-spray attraction at Crispin Center pool, mountain biking, an Aerial Challenge Course, the expansion of Wilson Lodge’s West Wing, a yoga studio with wellness programming and snow tubing, which is slated to open later this season.

Hilliard has held the position since November 2015.
