West Virginia Business College closing its doors

West Virginia Business College officials told students via email they would be closing.

West Virginia Business College officials told students via email they would be closing.

The college sent an email out on Monday to students and staff saying, "It is not financially possible to remain open for the July quarter."

The email, from General Manager James Weir, also blamed a decline in enrollment.

Last week, a judge issued a stay that stopped the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education from closing the school.

The stay allowed the college to continue to recruit students, although it lost accreditation earlier this year.

The school has two campuses, one in Wheeling and another in Nutter Fort.

NEWS9 contacted both campuses with no reply.

State Community and Technical College Chancellor Dr. Sarah Tucker says she has not received any official confirmation concerning the closure.
