Carrollton Middle School students were sent home from a school trip to Washington D.C early Friday because of an unconfirmed virus contracted.

The seventh and eighth grade students left for the trip last Wednesday.

On Friday, 25 students were reported sick, and since then, the count has increased. More than 100 middle school students were reported absent on Monday because of the virus.

Carrollton Superintendent Dave Quattrochi says the school and the Carroll County Health Department are investing the situation.

The unconfirmed virus is expected to last 2-3 days.
