Verbal threats to arresting officers compound matters for suspect in theft case

James C. Pruitt is facing charges of petty theft, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. And also for threatening arresting officers.

A preliminary hearing was held Tuesday for James C. Pruitt on Tuesday in Steubenville Municipal Court.

Pruitt is facing charges of petty theft, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.

The prosecution says it plans to prosecute the case to the fullest extent, based on the fact that Pruitt made verbal threats to the arresting officers.

“He made various threats against me personally, officers in general,” Steubenville Police Officer Ryan Lulla said. “He was going to kill me. He was going to find me, (bleep) me, (bleep) my wife, and my children.”

Pruitt was bound over the Jefferson County Grand Jury. His bond was set $100,000.
