Two men are behind bars following a kidnapping incident Monday night, during which a woman was held at knifepoint.

"We have a lot of domestic calls, unfortunately, but this one is unique,” said Moundsville Police Lieutenant Steve Kosek.

A woman is recovering after she was kidnapped and held at knifepoint in Moundsville Monday evening.

According to Moundsville Police, 33-year-old Thomas Blake, who had a previous relationship with the woman, broke into her home and held her at knifepoint, forcing her to come with him to his house on Ruby Street.

"A third party drove them to his house,” Kosek said. “At one point, she escaped and ran to another residence. Then, his little brother chased her down and assaulted her. Then we were called."

According to the police report, those in Blake’s house were told to punch the woman if she attempted to leave.

After she escaped, a neighbor came to her aid as police arrived.

"She was obviously upset, distraught,” Kosek said. “She had some bruising around both eyes and her lower jaw. She had some red marks on her neck."

Blake has been charged with burglary, kidnapping, brandishing assault, domestic battery and destruction of property.

His brother, 18-year-old Bryan Blake, has been charged with assault and unlawful restraint.

The victim told police she believes it happened because she owed Blake money.

"It appears it was over money. Over $50,” Kosek said.

Both men are in the Northern Regional Jail, awaiting arraignment.
