Three teachers honored in Ohio County

Three Ohio County public school teachers were honored at the annual Partners in Education luncheon at West Virginia Northern Community College on Friday.

April Branstetter from Wheeling Park, Stephanie O'Donnell from Bridge Street Middle School, and Sandra Wiseman from Woodsdale Elementary School all received plaques for Teacher of the Year.

Jai'Ehir Jackson, a senior at Wheeling Central, took home a $1,000 scholarship.

"This will help me a ton because I come from a family of five with a single mother, and I am the first one going to college so this will help," Jackson said.

"It's very important for the business community to have great public, private, and parochial schools so the Chamber's role is to support them the best way they can," said Erikka Storch from the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, the chamber hosts the awards ceremony in partnership with Williams Lea.

The winning teachers will ride in the Perkins Restaurant and Bakery Fantasy in Lights Parade.
