A Steubenville woman was convicted Wednesday in federal court for retaliation against a witness.

A Steubenville woman was convicted Wednesday in federal court for retaliation against a witness.

37-year-old Joy McShan Edwards made a post on her Facebook page about a confidential informant, with a photo and comments identifying him as a "snitch."

This happened after McShan Edwards' two brothers, Fred McShan and David McShan, were convicted in March 2016 of charges related to running a heroin trafficking ring.

During the trial, several members of the McShan family and friends had to be escorted out of the courtroom for violating cell phone policy and taking photos of witnesses in the case.

The victim said the retaliation via social media severely impacted his life and his safety.

McShan Edwards was found guilty after a one-day bench trial. She could face up to 10 years in prison.
