Steubenville Catholic Central kicks off Fun Fest

Steubenville Catholic Central reintroduced its Fun Fest last year, making Friday the start of year number two.

Friday marked the beginning of the 2017 Fun Fest presented by the Steubenville Catholic School. All of the school’s groups and organizations have different booths set up to fund raise for the upcoming school year.

“Every dollar that these students make they all keep for their group," says Carol Scurti, development director for Steubenville Catholic Schools.

The event was a tradition in the 80s, but the schools decided to start it up again last year, reintroducing the Fun Fest.

“It eliminates some of the fundraising we have during the year and it’s a great way to bring some of the community in to Catholic Central to really show them what we're about and what we do here," says senior Joe Zinno.

The festival features games for adults and kids, a corn hole tournament, 50/50 raffle, homemade food, live music and fireworks.

“There’s no duplicates, everybody has their own unique game. We have a ducky game and a putt-putt game, just different things, and the dunk tank is always a big hit with the cheerleaders," says Scurti.

The event is free to the public and goes on until 11pm Friday night and will continue Saturday from 4pm-11pm.
