The speed-limit in a well-traveled area of Harrison County has been reduced after the public raised concerns.

This impacts a 4-mile stretch of County Road 55 and County Road 2, also known as Deersville Road and Deersville Ridge Road near Tappan Lake Park.

The 55 mph has been dropped to 45.

A traffic study was done after residents were worried about an increase in traffic from trucks, tourists, and people taking detours.

β€œIt will be enforced to all residents and local, the general public, and the commercial traffic also, so just be aware the speed limit has changed and it is for the safety of all traveling public,” said Doug Crabtree, business service officer, Harrison County Engineer's Office.

The new speed limit signs should be posted within the week. Once that happens the new limit will be enforced immediately.
