Police say at least eight shots rang out during a dispute in downtown Wheeling on Thursday night.

Police are searching for a group they say was involved.

Witnesses say two men argued around midnight near 14th and Market streets, and that's when people say bullets began flying.

Eight shell casings were retrieved-- some near the sidewalk by the Rogers Hotel and others in the 7-Eleven parking lot.

Officers say they did check with local hospitals and they don't believe anyone was injured.

They need more information.

“We did have officers patrolling downtown and one was at Heritage Port,” said Philip Stahl, Wheeling Police public information officer. “He responded in seconds but everyone fled the scene.”

Police are reviewing surveillance cameras. No arrests have been made.
