Proposed power plant draws concern

Brooke County residents met at Tent Church in Colliers to hear from Energy Solutions Consortium on Thursday.

The topic of the meeting was the power plant planned for Colliers. They presented information about it and answered questions from residents.

Some are in favor, but others that live close to the site are worried.

“I'm concerned about how my way of life is going to be impacted, my property value, the traffic that we're going to have on a one-lane road,” said Donna Paules. “It's a dirt road."

“We want to use gas in state and hire people in state to the best of our ability, and I think this is something that plays into that,” said WV Delegate Mark Zatezalo.

The site is expected to be operational by 2021.
