A manhunt quickly got underway for a man who escaped Trinity Medical Center West on Wednesday afternoon.

Steubenville police say Frank Delguzzi, who was arrested 2 days earlier for shoplifting, escaped as he was being treated for an injury and ran from authorities.

Now he could face numerous other charges.

“A little after 12, a subject from the Jefferson County Jail claimed he injured his ankle,” Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said. “He was taken to the hospital. Officer was on his way out to sign a hold. When the officer got there, he left the area in a hospital gown -- IV still in his arm."

Delguzzi was only facing a charge of shoplifting, but felt compelled to flee from police. He was so determined to run, he broke into a home.

"Located a house on Terry that had an open window,” McCafferty said. “Located the owner; sent the K-9 in. He wasn't located there but we found the hospital gown."

Reported missing from the home were grey flannel and a blue and grey hoodie, articles of clothing he may be wearing. If you suspect you've spotted him, call police.

He’s a white male, 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, and balding in front, according to McCafferty.

When captured, Delguzzi will face additional charges of breaking and entering and fleeing from police.
