Police raid Wheeling home, find drugs and assault weapons

Peter Hankish, 43, was arrested and is facing numerous charges. He is in the Northern Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.

A Wheeling home was raided Tuesday night by drug task force and other law enforcement, and police say they discovered assault weapons and drugs.

It happened in the Springdale neighborhood of Wheeling.

The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, West Virginia State Police and other law enforcement executed a search warrant on a home on Decatur Avenue.

Police said they discovered crystal meth and other drug paraphernalia, ammunition, three loaded AK-47's and other weapons.

Peter Hankish, son of the late mob boss Paul Hankish, was arrested and is facing numerous charges.

Neighbors, who wished to remain anonymous, said it's about time.

"We have always been suspicious," one neighbor said. "They have people in and out constantly."

Another neighbor said there were more than 50 complaints to police.

"We will all sleep better," a neighbor said.

Hankish, 43, is in the Northern Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.
