Police: Man crashes into a home on way back from bar
NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio —
One man is in the hospital after he crashed his pickup into a New Philadelphia home early Sunday morning.
Police say Trent Slider, 24, crashed into the home after he left a bar in Tuscarawas County with a blood alcohol level of 0.25 percent.
Slider's car first went head on with another vehicle on Route 416. The driver of that car called 911 and was able to make a U-Turn, and follow the truck to the house.
Before crashing into the home, the truck traveled about 75 feet in the air and then proceeded to slide into the house.
The occupants of the home were asleep at the time and were not injured, although their home suffered significant damage.
Slider is in the hospital, with a broken neck in two places. He will remain in recovery for a few days and will be cited with an OVI and failure to control.
