A new t-shirt is being made in Ohio County with the proceeds from the sales go to charity.

The shirt features Charles Waldrum, also known as "Moondog,” a Wheeling legend often seen patrolling the street on his bike.

Waldrum gave creators his blessing.

The shirts were designed by artists Daniel Finsley, a graphic designer at Mail America.

It was part of a contest by mail America, challenging its employees to design t-shirts with a Friendly City theme.

The proceeds from the shirts will go to the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling.

They can be ordered online or at Play-It-Again Sports at the Bridge Street Plaza.

"You could have used the Suspension Bridge, Capitol Theatre, but I wanted to put a face to Wheeling kinda deal,” Finsley said.

"They provide 130,000 meals just last year to people that can't afford to feed their family and they can get a nice hot meal,” said Christina Vanmeter from Mail America.

The shirts are $15, and will be in before Christmas.
